Lauren Sobiesiak

BPsycSc(Hons)

Qualification – Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Master of Professional Psychology

Lauren has been working as a registered psychologist since June 2018 after completing her education at Western Sydney University and her supervision with the Department of Education as a school psychologist. Lauren has worked in the private sector since November 2018 and the public sector since April 2017. Lauren enjoys helping all ages with there mental health. Lauren’s work to date has largely working with and supporting young people before they progress into adulthood through key times of change like primary school to high school or high school to work, finding great interest in the increasing anxiety and depression presentations we are seeing in teenagers. Recently Lauren has also been exploring more of an interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The most rewarding part for Lauren is when someone starts to make progress and I notice a shift in their mindset, when they are able to start to support themselves after times of hardship and achieve daily functioning using the skills that therapy has given them.

A surprising fact about Lauren is that she did ice skating as a teenager, Although she didn’t get to a professional level she enjoyed many weekends in the cold learning to jump and spin. Lauren now in her spare time love spending time with her Husband and Son, going on long walks and spending time at the park. If Lauren does get some alone time she is a big fan of cuddling up on the couch and reading, watching a series or completing a paint by numbers.

Approach

Lauren works collaboratively with her clients to provide psychological assessments and interventions. She uses evidence-based techniques including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Lauren values professionalism, connection, generosity, compassion, inclusivity along with a caring nature in both her home and work life. Lauren’s aim is to make clients feel comfortable coming to therapy so that they feel supported to make the changes they desire.
